Community Peace Officer I

Full Time Permanent

The Town of High Level has an opening for a Full Time Community Peace Officer I. Are you a CPO1 (or
equivalent) looking for a unique northern enforcement experience? Are you looking for variety in job

Reporting to the Director of Protective Services, the Community Peace Officer 1 enhances public safety
and quality of life through the enforcement Provincial Statutes and Town Bylaws. As part of the Protective
and Emergency Services Team working with a total of two CPO’s, this position maintains a close working
partnership with the RCMP, Fire and EMS Services. As a CPO1 in High Level you will have a comprehensive
and dynamic set of duties. This position involves conducting thorough investigations, preparing court
packages, issuing tickets, summons or laying charges as required, effecting arrests and executing arrest
warrants. This position is a full time permanent position, 40 hrs per week with shift work and weekends. A
comprehensive benefits package is offered after 3 months.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. The minimum level of education for these positions are:
 Completion of Grade 12 Diploma; or equivalent policing experience
 Diploma in Law Enforcement or Criminology from a Post-secondary Institute
 Successful completion of an approved physical abilities test for uniformed enforcement roles
current within 6 months. (PARE test)
 Current appointment as or suitable training courses to be able to achieve an appointment as
a Community Peace Officer 1 in the Public Security Peace Officer Program (May train suitable candidate)

2. The minimum experience required for this position is:
 Two (2) years of applicable Law Enforcement experience;
 Ability to interpret and enforce Town Bylaws and Provincial Statutes;
 Effective written, presentation and oral communication skills.
 Well developed Public Relations skills
 Clean Criminal Records Check, Driver’s Abstract and Valid Class 5 License
 Previous Emergency Services Experience would be an asset
Salary will commensurate to experience and training $32.07 - $39.09/hr.
