The Municipal District of Bonnyville is starting a new Rural Crime Prevention Program.

This Analyst position will be working in the new Rural Crime Prevention Program, with our Crime Prevention Officer.


The Public Safety Analyst is responsible to provide day-to-day analytical support to the Crime Prevention Officer and administrative support to the Public Safety Department.

Duties & Responsibilities:

•Compile specialized analytical products such as maps, charts and statistical research in support of the Rural Crime Prevention program
•Assist with various crime prevention programs internally and externally
•Assist in the preparation and compilation of Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) Surveys
•Produce information for public releases relating to the education and prevention of criminal activity
•Assist the Rural Crime Prevention Officer by conducting various administrative duties in support of the M.D. of Bonnyville Rural Crime Prevention Program
•Answer incoming telephone calls and address questions on matters related to the Regulatory Bylaws and Provincial Statutes
•Take complaints over the telephone or at the front counter, register the concerns and assign file numbers
•Type departmental correspondence
•Operate the department radio
•Handle sensitive information confidentially
•Access various database systems as required
•Create and maintain enforcement related databases in Excel and Report Exec
•Assist with regular office maintenance (shovel snow, minor cleanup, etc.)
•May be required to represent the Public Safety Department on the M.D. OH&S Committee
•Every employee shall, while on the job, take reasonable care to protect the health and welfare of themselves and other workers, and cooperate with the employer in protecting the health and safety of all employees and contractors present on the worksite, as stated in the OH & S Act.
•Other duties as required


•A post-secondary education in criminology or comparable career experience in a related field
•Formal education and qualification in Crime Prevention through Environmental Design as well as statistical and intelligence analysis
•Prior experience producing analytical products such as maps, charts, and other related documents
•Computer knowledge including Microsoft Office, Report Exec and other relevant programs
•Knowledge of Provincial court administrative procedures and databases such as MOVES
•Work with minimal supervision
•Organizational skills to divide both analyst and administrative duties
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

Working Conditions:

•Primarily office work, however field work may also be required from time to time
•Sitting and operating a computer for a long period of time

Physical Requirements:

•Lift approximately 20lbs
•Move Office Supplies
•Occasional driving and walking while conducting surveys
