MacEwan University


Macewan University of Education is offering a certificate course for leaders and supervisors.

The course is made up of 5 modules over 2.5 days. Officers who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate of attendance from Macewan University of Continued Education.

Module 1: Change management fundamentals

Strategy and strategic ability are easy to demand yet hard to define and execute. In the past, they were thought to be the domain of only the most senior leaders. But the creation of a powerful direction and energy that sparks reliable, long-term growth is now critical at all levels of the organization. This course de-mystifies strategy and strategic planning. Using real life situations, you will learn approaches to create a clear strategy and apply techniques that translate strategic goals into engaging action plans.

Module 4: Creating an engaged workforce

Leaders play a significant role in creating a positive work environment. Learn about the factors that contribute to a positive work environment and what motivates team members, and explore the linkages between commitment, morale and productivity. You will also discuss strategies for retaining key employees. You make a difference!


Module 5: Effective communication for supervisors.

You have mastered basic communication skills and want to hone them even further. Learn how to communicate more confidently and persuasively. Spend the day taking a closer look at how you interact with others and discover the simple but profound changes that you can make to add impact and influence to your communication.

Lawyers from Brownlee LLP will be in attendance to provide direction and insights for municipalities with the impending legalization of marijuana. They will provide useful strategies and tips for officers to take back to their municipalities to better prepare themselves for this change in law.

 

Government Of AlbertaSolicitor General Update


A representative from the Solicitor General’s office will be present to discuss current concerns, future initiatives and to answer any questions officers or agencies may have.

Lazenby Inquiry Update
Dr. Dawn RAULT will be in attendance to discuss the Rod LAZENBY murder inquiry. She will provide insights into the process and recommendations that stands from the inquiry.
