TOWN OF VULCAN
COMMUNITY PEACE OFFICER


The Town is currently receiving applications for a Community Peace Officer position.

Example of Tasks

Under the supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer, the Community Peace Officer will:

• Be responsible for the overall supervision and enforcement of Town of Vulcan municipal bylaws, regulations, policies and Provincial Statutes, and to conduct all related investigations.
• Diligently and professionally patrol the Town of Vulcan and investigate complaints received.
• Liaise with schools, staff and students in regard to student safety and enforcement programs.
• Liaise and provide assistance to other agencies in a highly professional manner at all times.
• Complete all paperwork and reports as required by the department, Solicitor General and the court system.
• Act on behalf of the Town of Vulcan before the courts in the prosecution of charges that may be laid.
• Attend and participate in any training or re-certification courses as required by the Town of Vulcan or the Alberta Government.
• And attend to other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the Chief Administrative Officer.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the position will:

• Have a minimum of two years relevant experience and has completed the Community Peace Officers Induction Program or equivalent training.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills.
• Be knowledgeable of public relations and conflict resolution techniques.
• Have a working knowledge of Microsoft based programs.
• Hold a clean valid class 5 Alberta driver’s license.
• Have Standard First Aid.
• Demonstrate mature written communication and report writing skills.
• Be eligible for appointment by the Solicitor General as a Peace Officer.
