2018 AMEA (Alberta Municipal Enforcement) Conference

As most of you should already know the 2018 AMEA (Alberta Municipal Enforcement Association) conference is just around the corner, May 1 - 4 in Red Deer.

The AMEA 2018 Conference is now just two weeks away. If you haven't registered already, there's still time. Our conference is a great opportunity to:

Meet your fellow association members from across the Province
Study valuable topics in the field of Municipal Enforcement
Run for a spot on the Executive at our annual general meeting.

This year's conference features courses on emergency preparedness as a Municipal Enforcement Officer. This includes:

Emergency Management (agency & self)
Train Derailments
Reuniting evacuees with their pets
Livestock considerations

In addition to that, our lineup of Round Table Presenters on Wednesday May 2 has been finalized. Here is the complete list:

Moving to the later part of the week, we feature sessions on:

Cannabis Legalization
Off-Highway Vehicle Facilitators Course
Updates from SOLGEN on certifications and training
An in-depth report on the Rod Lazenby Fatality Inquiry
Stolen autos, chop shops and illegal drug operations (identification, reporting and officer safety)

Awards:

Our candidate for Excellence in Municipal Enforcement has been selected for 2018 and the award will be presented at our banquet dinner on May 3. Details will be posted on our Facebook page for those who can't attend the conference.

We're still looking for a candidate for our Leadership Award. The criteria for this award is:

1. This award can be presented to an individual, association, agency or municipality for creation, implementation of an outstanding or innovative program to educate or serve the public in the field of law enforcement.

2. The recognized program will provide leadership to other municipalities/counties to follow.

3. Set a new standard for the manner in which an organization conducts its business in law enforcement.
