CPO1 - TOWN OF BONNYVILLE

Post by Chris_Garner »

The Town of Bonnyville has an employment opportunity for a Community Peace Officer Level 1

For those interested, this is a modern CPO program with proper polices and procedures in place. They operate on the AFRRCS system and use a professional local 911 dispatch centre which also dispatches various other CPO Agencies in the region as well as the fire service. I know that officer safety is a primary focus for the Town and they have a very competitive salary for experienced officers. There is a good ratio of Traffic vs Bylaw and the CPO position is out of scope for the Town union. The Town also has funding available for training and additional qualifications.

The Town of Bonnyville is looking for an energetic, self-motivated and dynamic person that is
committed to providing a professional level of service, who enjoys working in a Team
environment to fill the role of Community Peace Officer Level 1. Bonnyville is a steady growing
community of approximately 6,500 people located 242 kilometers east of Edmonton and is part
of the oil and gas hub in the Lakeland region.
Under the direction of the Chief Administrative Officer or Designate, the C.P.O. Level 1 is
responsible for the day to day enforcement and administration of all municipal bylaws,
specified provincial acts and legislation as well as public inquiries, initiating investigations and
finalizing complaints, issuing violation tickets, laying charges, maintaining files, compiling
records, submitting reports and representing the Town in the Court of Law in accordance with
the Policies and Operational Procedures as approved by the Town of Bonnyville Council as well
as authorities obtained by the Province of Alberta. This position will also have a visible
component to the Educational Program in providing a pro-active style of enforcement through
various school programs and volunteering opportunities within the community. The C.P.O. will
have a good working relationship with the Local RCMP and will meet regularly to revisit the
Traffic Safety Plan as well as to coordinate educational components for school programs. The
Community Peace Officer will also have an active role in the Towns Emergency Management
Plan.
