DKR Consulting Inc. is offering this fully accredited, 5 day / 40 hour Legal Studies Course for candidates who are / have completed training as a provincial or federal Correctional Officer or Alberta Court Sheriff and are looking to transition to become / become eligible for a CPO 1 Appointment. This course is open to agency sponsored or self pay candidates. This course is also open to existing CPO 1 officers, who are looking for a refresher on legal studies.

Pursuant to S. 6.4 Public Security Peace Officer Program, Policy and Procedures Manual (October 2023), this training course is suitable for candidates who require additional legal studies training and who have completed one of the following:

-Sheriffs Induction Training (not Sheriffs Highway Patrol Training)
-Alberta Correctional Services Training
-Canadian Correctional Services Training

-Criminal Code
-Charter of Rights and Freedoms
-Peace Officer Program Review
-Investigations & Documentation
-Provincial Offences Procedures Act & Regulations
-Provincial Violation Tickets
-Arrest, Detention & Release
-Court Documents (Information, Summons, Subpoena)
-Use of Force
-Provincial Statutes (Traffic Safety Act & Regs, Trespass to Premises Act, Animal Protection Act, Dangerous Dogs Act, Gaming-Liquor & Cannabis)
-Search & Seizure
-Traffic Enforcement (Tow Forms, 24 Hour Suspension, Seizure Notice, Suspended Drivers, Notice of Intention to Seek Greater Punishment)
-Court Preparation & Testimony
