The Town of Okotoks will be hosting a PPCT Edged Weapon Control and PPCT Ground Control Instructor Course June 16-20, 2025.

This course is comprised of 20 hours of Edged Weapon Control and 20 hours of Ground Control and will certify Instructors to teach both courses. This course is a physically intensive 5 days of training and will include, theory, practical techniques as well as both a theory and practical teach back component.

Edged Weapon Control System - 20 Hours
The Edged Weapon Control System (formerly known as the Spontaneous Knife Defense Program) is based upon the reality of an imminent Lethal Force Engagement.

This course includes:
- PPCT Tactical Human Factors
- Pressure Point Control
- Use of Force and Survival Principles
- Offensive Edged Weapon Attacks
- Edged Weapon Countermeasures

The above design and technique methodology is a convergence of U.S. Army SERE, CIA and Special Operations communities from 1987 through 2010. Thus, we have included a model that has “established” past performance, but a model that also is consistent with the 2010 Human Factor, Deep Learning and macro/micro pattern recognition neural network research.

Ground Control System - 20 Hours
The Ground Control System follows a similar design methodology to the Edged Weapon Countermeasures Program. The system is broken into the following:

- Passive Resistance Ground Control
- Defensive Resistance Ground Control
- Active Aggression Ground Control

While the Ground Control System has been a continuous refinement since 1996, the new Ground Control System is a product of Bruce Siddle and Staff Instructors who are experts in Ground Fighting. There is zero MMA or BJJ influence in the new system.

The course is limited to 12 students.
