The Opportunity:
We have an exciting opportunity for two highly motivated Community Peace Officers (CPO1) to be a part of the Okotoks Municipal Enforcement Business Centre. The position reports to the Municipal Enforcement Manager (Inspector) and will be responsible for duties as such:
• Responding to and investigating calls for service within the Town of Okotoks, following up with a detailed written report
• Focusing on pedestrian and school zone safety, Traffic Enforcement, and Animal Control duties
• Proactively conduct patrols of roadways, pathways and infrastructure including foot/bike patrols of local parks and the river valley
• Officers may be assigned to work collaboratively with local schools throughout the Town supporting school safety
• Partner with the RCMP, maintaining a good working relationship by assisting with calls that are within the scope of duties and joint traffic operations

What You Bring:
A combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to qualify. A typical way to qualify is equivalency of successful completion of a related diploma or degree (Criminology):
• Must possess Community Peace Officer Level 1 (CPO1) status;
• Require a minimum of 3 or more years related work experience representing continuous learning and career progression
• First Aid and CPR certification required
• Strong interpersonal skills including tact and diplomacy along with proven written and oral communication skills, including public speaking are required
• A valid Alberta class 5 driver’s (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits, no current suspensions or charges pending required
• Acute Vision, no color blindness, be able to complete an employer run PARE within 4.45 mins to receive a certificate of completion
• Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance at the level of RCMP ‘Verifiable Reliability’
• Must be able to meet the shift requirements which may include evenings, weekends and statutory holidays
• Experience with municipal bylaws and provincial statutes, Radar & Laser equipment operations, ROADS, JOIN (report management systems) experience, dangerous goods enforcement, driver safety training, and WHMIS are considered an asset
• Strong computer skills in Microsoft products such as Word and Excel are an asset
