COMMERCIAL VEHICLE DIMENSION & WEIGHT REGULATION (CVDWR) Course
April 2-6, 2024

This is a fully Accredited IN-PERSON course with a maximum of 10 spots available. There are NO online or remote learning opportunities at this time. Accredited Training Course Number: A-20231201-0054

DETAILS
The Commercial Vehicle Dimension & Weight Regulations (CVDWR) Course provides officers with a basic understanding of overall commercial vehicle enforcement for the purposes of protecting public roadway infrastructure. This 5-day intensive course is designed for law enforcement professionals and is packed with current information pertaining to commercial vehicle configurations, industry terminology and definitions, legislation, dimensions and weights, enforcing road bans and bridge restrictions, and laying charges under provincial laws. Participants should be prepared to receive a significant amount of information each day, reinforced with practical written worksheets and scenarios. Each lesson builds on previous modules, ending with a final written examination on the final day. Students who achieve 80% or higher on the exam will receive a certificate.

*NOTE: This course is NOT a legal requirement to enforce commercial vehicle duties in Alberta, and the certificate provided does not grant any specific authorities or expertise. However, the course is accredited by the Alberta Public Safety and Emergency Services - Training Academy, and is an excellent resource taught by experienced officers to help law enforcement professions conduct investigations and prosecutions within this specific field of traffic enforcement.
