The Protective Service Team is seeking a customer-focused Weed Inspector for the 2023 summer season.
Reporting to the Team Lead of Municipal Enforcement, the Weed Inspector is responsible for:
Conducting proactive inspections for excessive weeds and unsightly properties in accordance with Beaumont’s Nuisance/ Unsightly Bylaw and Land Use Bylaw
Enforcing the Alberta Weed Control Act
Serving letters and notices regarding the control of weeds and unsightly properties to property owners
Maintaining accurate reports, photographs and records of investigations and taking necessary follow-up action under appropriate legislation
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED and must be over 18 years of age
Agricultural background or previous experience as a weed inspector
Understanding and knowledge of the Alberta Weed Control Act and regulations
Post-secondary education in Agriculture or related field is considered an asset
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and GIS programs
Current Standard First Aid & CPR
Valid driver’s license
WHMIS Certification
As the successful candidate you will have the ability to:
Meet the shift requirements; shifts may include evenings, weekends and holidays
Work in all weather conditions
Provide a clear Criminal Record Check
Provide a clean driver’s abstract that demonstrates responsible and safe driving habits
Keep detailed records and reports
Work under tight deadlines
Self-motivate and work with minimal supervision
Organize the workload and take initiative
Provide you own approved safety boots
Adhere to all safety standards and promote Beaumont’s health and safety program
This term position offers a wage of $22.50 per hour and up to 40-hours per week, may include evening and weekend shifts. The term length is weather dependent but is anticipated to be from April 03, 2023 to September 1, 2023 but may be subject to change.
