Hello,

At the request of the government of Alberta , AGLC Investigations Branch
peace officers recently received extended authorities to conduct
investigations and lay charges in respect to contraventions of sections
8, 9, & 10 of the _Cannabis Act_ (possession, distribution, selling),
including offences related to section 462.3 of the _Criminal Code_
(Proceeds of Crime). The focus of our investigations will be illicit
online sales platforms, but will include locations where illicit
cannabis is stored/sourced to support these sites.

As a result of the above, AGLC has recently posted two peace officer
positions on our external site, one investigator located in our St.
Albert office, one investigator located in our Calgary office. I have
included a link below to the posting and position description for
further information. As a reminder, AGLC peace officers are unarmed and
will involve / coordinate with the police agency of jurisdiction for any
search warrants or matters involving increased risk, no different than
our current protocols for contraband tobacco or illegal gaming
investigations.
